A return destination

A commonly cited share of visitors said to return after discovering Sri Lanka.

Why Sri Lanka? That is usually a personal question. After seeing a great deal of the world and eventually arriving here, this country has never let me go.

The openness of the people is extraordinary. Cheerful, friendly smiles greet you everywhere, and people are often immediately ready to help. Then there is the island itself: ancient cities, rich traditions, wide beaches, wildlife and natural beauty in remarkable abundance.

The palms seem to lean forward and say Ayubowan—the warm word of welcome heard throughout the island.

Sri Lanka rewards repeat visits because every region feels different. Within a relatively small area, you can walk through jungle, explore nature reserves, visit tea plantations, find Buddhist temples and end the day beside an ocean fringed with swaying palms.

Wild Sri Lanka

And what about nature?

Few countries offer such varied natural beauty in so little space: misty mountains, waterfalls, rainforest, open plains and clean white beaches.

The wildlife makes its own unforgettable contribution. Elephants move through forests and grasslands, while the elusive Sri Lankan leopard remains one of the island’s most admired animals. National parks also shelter sloth bears, crocodiles, monkeys and an exceptional variety of birds.

Whether nature is the focus of your holiday or one chapter within it, we can shape the route around the landscapes and wildlife you most want to experience.
